I'm excited to announce that I am joining the Chainbase family as the Developer Relations professional.
I still remember it was July 2022 when I, as a venture capitalist, visited the Chainbase team for the first time. At that time, I had little understanding of the principles behind Web3 and blockchain infrastructure. I asked many questions that, in hindsight, may seem foolish today. However, Mogu and Zisland patiently explained to me what nodes and data APIs were, and the function they had among blockchain developers. To be honest, I was immediately captivated by the team's execution capabilities and their vision for a decentralized data layer.
Out of excitement and curiosity, a very bold idea came to my mind. I asked them, "Can I join Chainbase as a part-time ecosystem ambassador? I would like to learn more about blockchain infrastructure." Surprisingly, they agreed. In the following months, I would have meetings with the team every week at night, discussing how to improve the convenience of infrastructure for developers and how to increase our influence within the community of Blockchains. As a member of the ecosystem, I also actively participated in Chainbase's early Twitter space and engaged with developers in various discussions.
I must admit that in these few months, I have learned more knowledge than I did during my one year of work in venture capital.
As my original work became increasingly demanding, I gradually became less involved in the construction of the Chainbase community. However, I did not stop my pursuit of learning about Web3. In the days that followed, I extensively studied various subjects such as cryptography, Web3 development, Solidity, MEV, and other related knowledge.
By the summer of 2023, when I published my latest article and received positive feedback within the industry, I knew it was time for me to leave the venture capital and embark on a new journey. I believe that the knowledge and skills I have acquired can bring truly useful and practical solutions to startups, attract more developers and users. I no longer want to be confined to being just another slide in a financial presentation deck. On the other hand, I am genuinely drawn to the concept of decentralization and am willing to take action to accomplish it.
People often say that the golden age of the internet has come to an end. They predict that we are entering an era of fragmentation and decline.
But I believe that this is just a small part of the ongoing spiral of history.
"If an airplane can easily cross borders, what meaning do borders have?" Austrian writer Stefan Zweig wrote this in his book "The World of Yesterday." At that time, he was witnessing the French engineer Louis Blériot flying his self-made plane across the English Channel, while Zweig himself cheered in Vienna. It was 1909, and people naturally believed that such a beautiful and free era would last forever, until their dreams were shattered by the gunshot in Sarajevo.
"This golden age will never return." These words, I believe, will endlessly repeat throughout human history, like the waves crashing against the cliffs, coming and going.
Perhaps when Socrates faced his death or when Bruno was burned alive by an angry mob, people at that time might have also said, "The golden age has come to an end." It is not until the arrival of the next golden age belonging to the next generation.
However, I firmly believe that the ideals and practices of decentralization will eventually have their golden moment. If we can transcend the mechanisms of violence, the suspicions between individuals, and the limitations of geography, if we can interact and share information within a permissionless blockchain network, then what can stop us from breaking the monopolies between institutions? What can prevent us from creating a fairer and better world?
The concept of decentralization, with its potential to empower individuals, foster transparency, and promote collaboration, holds the promise of a new era. It provides a framework where trust can be established without intermediaries, where innovation can thrive, and where collective decision-making can be truly democratic. While challenges and obstacles may arise, the human spirit to overcome them and shape a brighter future remains strong.
This aligns perfectly with the vision of Chainbase as a Web3 infrastructure. Our purpose is to provide convenient and user-friendly data services to developers and to help expand the possibilities within the Blockchain ecosystem. That's why I chose to join Chainbase in the role of developer relations.
In the not-so-distant future, I hope to become a strong and reliable bridge, connecting various community members. It is my aspiration to facilitate collaboration, foster innovation, and contribute to the growth and development of the web3 ecosystem. By bridging the gaps between different communities, we can collectively build a stronger and more interconnected decentralized future.
This is masterdai, I will be with you all the time!
About Chainbase
Chainbase is an all-in-one data infrastructure for Web3 that allows you to index, transform, and use on-chain data at scale. By leveraging enriched on-chain data and streaming computing technologies across one data infrastructure, Chainbase automates the indexing and querying of blockchain data, enabling developers to accomplish more with less effort.
